Delayed But Not Denied

While we were enjoying the snow a few weeks ago, we watched the news and saw how the weather impacted the lives of many. Some were affected more than others. It was interesting to see how individuals responded to the snow. Some stayed home to get rest and spend time with their families, while others got out and enjoyed the snow (taking pictures, sledding, and even skiing in the streets of New York City). One man was stuck at the airport after his flight was cancelled. The news reporter asked if he was upset or frustrated. His response was very surprising. He said, “Not really, I know I will get there eventually”.

His response made us think about life and how things do not always go as planned. Sometimes the following thoughts come to mind when you have not accomplished a goal/dream. I thought I would be finished with my degree by now. I thought my finances would be in order by now. I thought I would be buying a house by now. I thought I would have a better job by now. I thought I would be healed by now. When we think we should be further along in life, it is easy to get disappointed or discouraged.

Just because it has not happened yet, does not mean it is not going to happen. There is a quote that says “Delayed but not denied”. You have to keep trying, keep believing, keep pushing, and know that everything is going to work out. No matter how long it takes: be encouraged, stay strong, and don’t quit or give up because God placed the dreams, goals, and desires in your heart for a reason.

We started Jewellery Unique with thoughts, ideas, and visions of where we would be by now. Many things have gone as planned, but there are others that have not. For the dreams that have not been accomplished, we keep trusting and believing God that everything will work out. We know our timing is not God’s timing. Just because things did not occur when we planned, does not mean that God is not with us and that it is not going to happen.

The man could not change the fact that his flight was cancelled, he still believed that his flight was eventually coming and he would arrive at his destination. Sometimes “waiting” is the hardest part. When we have confidence in our dreams, goals, and most importantly God, we have to stay strong through the delays, stops, bumps, and detours. It will not be easy, but the vision will come to pass, if not today then tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then the next day. You may be delayed, but you will not be denied, you will get there!
